Several killed, others rescued after boat carrying migrants capsizes off Florida

Boynton Beach, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Ten people were confirmed dead after a boat carrying dozens of migrants capsized off the coast of Florida on Wednesday morning, officials tell BNO News.
The incidents happened around 2 a.m. local time, about 15 miles east of Boynton Beach, but was not reported until 12.39 p.m. when a passing boat found three people. Two of them were responsive while a third showed no life signs. Migrants from Haiti and the Bahamas were said to be on board, according to the Associated Press. Seventeen others were rescued but there was no immediate word on their conditions.
There was a large emergency response after the incident was first reported just after noon and it took hours before all 27 people were recovered from the water. Don Delucia, who is a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue department, earlier confirmed that 11, and later 21 people, had died. The U.S. Coast Guard could not confirm that figure.
